Great Weather – Even Better Prizes!

July 25th, 2010

It was a great day for golf at the exclusive Briars Golf Club on the southern shores of Lake Simcoe  when an eager group of golfing/racing enthusiasts took to the greens for a day of fun (and some frustration too).

Reif Estate Winery Sponsors BSR Benefit Golf Tournament

June 29th, 2010

Reif Estate Winery announced today that they will donate a case of their carefully nurtured wines to be used for the “Closest to the Case” competition in the upcoming BSR Benefit Golf Tournament. “Other golf tournaments do a closest to the pin event, but we thought this crowd would appreciate something a little different and Klaus Reif of Reif Estate Winery stepped up to the podium with their contribution,” says Janet Stewart of BSR.

More about the Reif Estate Winery: The Reif family tradition of winemaking began nearly half a millennium ago in the small winemaking town of Neustadt, located in the heart of the world renowned Rhine River Valley in Germany.  In 1977, this tradition transcended to a new continent, when founder Ewald Reif purchased a plot of land on the fertile banks of the Niagara River. After carefully nurturing the land for six years, the potential of these young vineyards became evident when the doors of Reif Estate Winery officially opened in 1983. In 1987, Klaus W. Reif took over the reins from his uncle Ewald, as the President and Winemaker after graduating from the world famous Geisenheim Institute in Germany with degrees in both Oenology and Viticulture.

A big thanks to the many companies that have stepped up to sponsor the First Annual BSR Golf Tournament by providing items to be used as prizes and auction items. A case of wine, a karting track membership, a golf bag, dinner for two, a golfing foursome, a day driving a racing car and limited-edition chairs are just some of the great things up for grabs. Check out the Prize Page for all of the details.

“Wings and Slicks” to sponsor “longest drive” competition

June 1st, 2010

Wings and Slicks has generously stepped up as a sponsor of the First Annual BSR-BSRKC Benefit Golf Tournament. The tournament will be held at the Briars Golf Club just north of Toronto on Wednesday, July 14th. A shotgun start at 1 PM will pit three generations of racing enthusiasts against each other for 18 holes of golf to be followed by a chicken and rib dinner at the Lake Simcoe Arms as well as a silent auction.

Wings and Slicks has committed to providing prizes for The Longest Drive Competition as well as a prize for the Auction that will follow dinner. In both cases, the prize is an experience unlike any other! The winners will drive the most powerful Formula 1-style 2-liter race cars found today. Wings and Slicks will put you in the driver’s seat on a REAL road course Race Track with turns and twists designed for maximum speed and safety. Winners will experience acceleration, braking and cornering unmatched by even the most exotic street cars in the world! There will be no speed limits or pace cars to hold you back.

“If you’ve ever wanted to be a Formula 1 driver, now’s the chance to find out what it takes! Not only will this experience be the most fun you have ever had, it will teach you skills you can use on the street. Your heart will start pumping like a tri-athlete’s the moment you get in the car. The roar of the engine and the open road ahead will assault your senses with a frenzy of blurring speed and exotic sounds sending your brain constant messages of euphoria. The race course is a smooth safe layout with plenty of run off room and without barriers so you will be safe to enjoy the adrenaline rush!” says Hans Wolter of Wings and Slicks.

Vintage Racing Car Restoration – A well kept secret!

May 25th, 2010

Most people don’t realize that Brian has been repairing and restoring vintage racing cars for more than 40 years. Vintage car racers and collectors regularly bring their beaten and torn vehicles to his racing shop to have them whipped back into racing shape.

Check out the new website that we just launched – www.RestoreRacingCars.com and be sure to check out the story about “The Hawke” – a formula ford owned by Ross Smith that is back at BSR for some TLC, but that Brian actually took “pole position” in, in 1971.
