Brian Stewart Racing is launching a Star Mazda team as part of its Driver Development Program for 2010. The team will compete in 13 races over 11 weekend events as part of the Star Mazda Series that is presented by Goodyear and sanctioned by the Indy Racing League's Road to Indy Ladder Program:
March 19, 2010 - Sebring InternationalThe BSR Star Mazda Team is part of a comprehensive Driver Development Program that provides drivers with an open-wheel stepping stone between karting and Indy Lights. Each driver will have a team of people to support them that includes highly skilled mechanics and engineers. Tommy Byrne, one of the most skillful drivers to ever have participated on the BSR team and one of today's best driver coaches will be providing the drivers with personal coaching at all of their races as well as at their pre- and in-season test days. In addition to that, Jim Leo of Pit Fit will provide our drivers with individualized coaching plans and on-going support. Our drivers will have every possible advantage to help them to excel.
In its 45-year history of auto-racing, BSR has had an outstanding record of winning at all levels of open-wheel auto racing in North America in which they have participated and has put a Driver Development Program in place that will create a pool of talent to graduate to the Indy Lights level. Past drivers include well-known names such as Paul Tracy, Brian Herta, Eric Bachelart, Christiano Da Matta, Scott Maxwell and Wade Cunningham.
Drivers will also be coached on important off-track skills such as media relations and sponsor engagement and will be able to participate in the team’s track-side Indy Lights Team activities. Space in BSR’s Driver Development Program is limited, so those interested in becoming involved should contact Janet Stewart, BSR Business Manager, at 613-299-5003 or janet@brianstewartracing.ca right away.
